Shawsheen River Watershed Association’s August Public Paddle

Hello One & All,

These are the details for the Shawsheen River Watershed Associations ‘August Public Paddle’.  We will meet at 8:30 on Saturday, August 1st, at the Ballardvale Dam in Andover and shuttle people to the starting point on Lowell Junction Road.  This short and slow trip is our ‘Shawsheen in Bloom’ trip and we will try to photograph and identify the plants along the river.  This is a very safe and slow trip.

Along the trip we will pass under a classic ‘arch bridge’ made of large blocks of granite, wind through the woods and finish on the wide area of the Ballardvale Flats. There are a number of advantages to taking pictures of plants: (1) they stay still while you focus and (2) don’t complain that camera adds ten pounds to everything.

So, get out your cameras and the accompany manuals and refresh your memory on ‘floral’ and ‘macro’ modes.
