SUMMARY:2024 Allegheny River of the Year Event: 20th Annual Allegheny Reservoir Clean-up with Three Rivers Waterkeeper
DESCRIPTION:The 2024 (20th Annual) Allegheny Reservoir Clean-up will take place on Saturday\, May 11\, 2024. \nDeadline to register is Thursday\, May 2nd. \nWe’ll meet at the Highbanks Campground (same as last year) at 8 a.m. where everyone will sign-in and be given supplies (trash bags and gloves) prior to being taken to a designated spot.\nIf you’re interested in participating in one of the premier community conservation events in the area\, first visit the FAQ page\, and then head over to the Volunteer page to sign up!\n(Note that some of the info on the FAQ page is intended for the autumn river cleanups so\, keep that in mind as you read it.) \nVolunteers should bring:\nRain Gear-the cleanup will be completed rain or shine.\nLayered Clothing-Individuals come prepared for a range of weather conditions\, which can change rapidly in mid-May in northwestern Pennsylvania.\nFood & Water-Individuals are responsible for bringing their own lunch and snacks. We will provide hot dogs\, chips and beverages at the end of the day! \nWe look forward to another great time this year!

SUMMARY:2024 Allegheny River of the Year Event: 3 Rivers Watch (Boating) with Three Rivers Waterkeeper
DESCRIPTION:Join Three Rivers Waterkeeper for an in-person training session while kayaking or on our Waterkeeper boat where we go over what pollution to look for and how to report pollution while you’re out by or on the water! For our training sessions\, all equipment such as kayaks and life jackets will be provided. \n3 Rivers Watch is a network of volunteers who are active river users or river watchers\, from individuals to groups\, who have a vested interest in clean water. You can monitor the water while you are boating\, kayaking\, swimming\, or even walking along the river. Our 3 Rivers Watch training sessions include information about the types of pollution found in our waterways and how to report it along with an on-the-water experience in our watershed. The kayak version will last roughly an hour on single kayaks and is good for anyone with a base knowledge of kayaking.
