Explore the scenic Raccoon Creek Greenway with its rocky cliffs\, wooded hillsides and quiet shorelines. \nHighlights include a natural stream bank repair under construction\, a grove of giant sassafras trees\, and a maturing wetland-meadow teeming with songbirds. Experts will be on hand to answer your questions about wild birds\, fish\, forestry\, nature photography\, geology\, streams\, wetlands\, and local history. \nThe walk is one mile over mowed grass and bare earth with a few short\, moderate climbs. A restroom is available. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable\, closed-toe shoes or boots. There is no rain date. This walk is not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers. People-friendly leashed pets are allowed; owners must clean up after their pets. \nFree.

DESCRIPTION:The 4th Annual Dam Bridge Challenge features 3 different races along the Susquehanna River on Lake Clarke starting and finishing near the Lock 2 Recreation Area. There are opportunities for racers of all ages; and categories for kayaks\, canoes\, and stand-up paddleboards (SUP). Following the races\, we’ll celebrate with live music\, cold beverages\, delicious food\, and a variety of family-friendly activities around Shank’s Mare Outfitters’ property. \nThe Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association is dedicated to improving the ecological health of the Lower Susquehanna River Watershed and the Chesapeake Bay. We believe that current and future citizens of the Lower Susquehanna River Watershed deserve high water quality\, wise and sustainable use of all aquatic resources\, and preservation of aesthetic value of our waterways. \nThis event serves as the LSRA’s largest annual fundraiser\, and an opportunity to bring together our communities in support of clean water\, on the 50th Anniversary year of the Clean Water Act.

DESCRIPTION:The Endless Mountains Heritage Region (EMHR) is teaming up with Endless Mountain Outfitters (EMO) to host its annual Youth Heritage River Sojourn from June 24th through the 26th. All middle- and high-school level students in the four-county region of Bradford\, Sullivan\, Susquehanna and Wyoming are invited to partake in this three-day journey down the mighty Susquehanna River’s North Branch. Throughout the weekend\, young paddlers will learn about kayaking safety\, environmental stewardship\, wildlife\, camping and the history of this remarkable natural resource that we are fortunate enough to have flowing through our region. Led by Towanda Area School District teacher and EMO owner\, Keith Brown\, participants will embark on a three-day\, two-night journey from Wyalusing to Tunkhannock. Students will paddle 30 miles over three-days! All lunches and dinners are provided\, but students should bring snacks and water bottles. Evenings at Camp Lackawanna will include campfires\, games\, hiking\, an outdoor evening movie on the big screen and more! The Perki-Bay Expedition is a 5-day\, 50-mile\, self-supported\, paddling expedition where the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy’s youth conservation program members paddle from the Perkiomen Creek in Upper Montgomery County to Fort Mifflin on the Delaware River. \nOur intrepid 20-person team embarks on June 20th. The goal of the expedition is to raise awareness for the Perkiomen Creek Water Trail and for the Conservancy’s Youth Conservation Corps.
