SUMMARY:Dickinson College: Environmental Justice in PA
DESCRIPTION:On April 6\, Dickinson College is hosting a free event to discuss challenges and opportunities related to your health\, pollution exposure\, and access to food. \nMarginalized communities across Pennsylvanian are disproportionately exposed to environmental hazards and have\nhistorically been excluded from or underrepresented in environmental justice activities. Environmental justice means that all are included in the development\, implementation\, and enforcement of environmental regulations\, laws\, and policies. EJ in PA aims to educate and empower residents regarding environmental justice issues throughout Pennsylvania. The goals for the event are to encourage conversation and create connection among community members to identify actions and outcomes that will be supported through resources and networking after the event through a group of EJ community hubs. \nThe event’s keynote speaker is Mustafa Santiago\, Vice President of Environmental Justice\, Climate\, and Community\nRevitalization\, National Wildlife Federation. \nTo learn more and register click HERE

SUMMARY:Penn State Water Cooler Talk: Managing Stormwater with Trees and Forests
DESCRIPTION:Trees and forests play a significant role in reducing stormwater and pollutant loads and can be one of the most cost-effective and greenest approaches to managing stormwater. Explore the multiple ways that trees and forests reduce stormwater and associated nutrient and pollutant loads while they provide so many additional community benefits such as reducing summer temperatures and saving energy; sequestering carbon and removing air pollutants; increasing property values; and improving human health and mental wellness. Learn how MS4 communities can calculate nutrient reduction credits for new tree plantings. \nJoin Penn State for this conversation on Wednesday Match 31\, 2021 at 12 Noon. \nLearn more and register here
