You’re invited to attend a free webinar presentation being hosted by the Pennsylvania iMapInvasives Program on Tuesday, September 12 from 10:00am-11:00am titled “Preserving & Restoring a Floodplain Forest in the Face of Invasive Knotweed“.
Webinar Overview
Join the Allegheny Land Trust’s Vice President of Stewardship, Caitlin Seiler, who will share the Trust’s experience managing invasive Japanese knotweed (Reynoutria japonica) at the Sycamore Island Conservation Area near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Learn about the unique island and the different knotweed species invading the site. The Trust has utilized a combination of staff and volunteer efforts over the past 12 years to mechanically and chemically control the knotweed and plant native species to protect and improve the health of the floodplain forest. We will also look toward the future and consider next steps in treatment and restoration.
