Sojourns

What is a "sojourn?"

A sojourn is fun and safe adventure on a stream, creek, river, lake or other body of water in a self powered craft such as kayak, canoe, stand-up paddle board, or even an inner tube! Sojourns typically begin upstream and paddlers or “floaters” make their way downstream. While doing so they enjoy an outdoor recreation experience that includes at least a little exercise, many gorgeous views and wildlife sightings, and, when attending a sojourn hosted by an environmental organization and supported by POWR, a fabulous and inspirational educational component.

POWR has administered the Pennsylvania Sojourn program for over a decade and has supported sojourn/paddling trips on many of the Commonwealth’s rivers and streams. The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (PA DCNR) is the primary sponsor of the program.
