The Board of Directors of the Conestoga River Club, a 501(c)(3) non-profit located in Lancaster County, PA is searching for an Executive Director to help shepherd the Club through the next phase of its evolution.
Our organization has it genesis 5 years ago and was born out of the appreciation for the 61+ miles of the Conestoga River as it meanders through Lancaster County (including through Lancaster City) with a focus on enjoyment of this amazing resource through safe recreation via river access, conservation through actions that helps to improve water quality and education through engaging others in understanding the benefits of this important natural resource. During its short history the club has lobbied local government and effected the improvement of several launch and portage locations, taught an untold number of water safety classes, provided guided and un-guided tours of the river (including an annual 2-day sojourn) and neighboring river related cultural and historic sites, removed 65 total tons of trash and tires from the river through organized clean-up efforts and has engaged hundreds of youth in water related education sessions. We partner regularly with like-minded organizations including Lancaster Conservancy for their annual Water Week event, the Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper, and others with an appreciation for the River.
Thirty two (32) miles of the Conestoga River is designated as a Water Trail and is one of twenty-nine such trails in Pennsylvania. The Conestoga River Club recently completed an 85 page Water Trail Access Improvement Plan and is ready to start implementing the river access recommendations of that plan.
