Join the Middle Spring Watershed Association for this 2.5-day canoe/kayak weekend with a total length of 21.7 miles beginning with a flatwater sunset paddle Friday evening on the reservoir above Carlisle Dam. Enjoy the scenery and evening while learning a bit about water use and celebrating local stream history. Saturday (subject to water levels) will be a day paddle in seldom-paddled Franklin County parts of the stream, where there is usually a fun current and often Bald Eagles, while learning a bit about the geology of the stream. Feel what the stream was before “civilization”, even though civilization is never far away. Sunday’s tour starts at a covered bridge, and passes state game lands and the sites/remains of several historic mills. It also features a lunchtime tour of a riparian buffer. Suitable for beginners, with no overnights. This sojourn is an opportunity to explore the stream with a group of other paddlers while learning insights about it and its history. Get outdoors, enjoy some exercise, have fun and spend a weekend on the Conodoguinet.
