Did you know that POWR has created an interactive GIS-based map of Pennsylvania’s known community watershed organizations (CWOs), watershed alliances and coalitions, and other organizations whose missions include water resource conservation, restoration, and education. POWR is pleased to release the Final Report, Community-Based Watershed Organizations Roles in AML/AMD Projects in Pennsylvania. POWR engaged a consultant team to research and present this report on the historical role of CWOs in efforts to address AMD impaired waterways, the opportunities being made possible by the federal investment in AMD remediation, the challenges and barriers to accelerated restoration efforts, and the conditions and support necessary to ensure sustained long-term CWO engagement.
