Paddling in Search of a Lost Plant on the Delaware River
The Delaware Riverkeeper Network in launching a new volunteer science survey for a rare and imperiled aquatic plant last seen in the Lower Delaware River in the 1870s. New records show that this plant, named “Podostemum,” is returning to the Lower Delaware and its tributaries, and the Delaware Riverkeeper Network seeks to train volunteers on the identification and unique properties of this plant so they themselves can conduct surveys for this plant in the Delaware River and throughout the region.
